Ikea Chair - Before and After

This week I started my new Summer schedule at my day job.  I'll be working 3 10-hour days per week and having 4 day weekends! I am so happy that I made this change. I had been thinking about it for so long and finally decided I needed to take the opportunity and use the time to focus on things that are more important to me than pushing paperwork and punching numbers all day in a dysfunctional office environment!

So for the next 10 weeks I'll be spending my extra time working on things for City Chic Country Mouse and enjoying Summer! Of course, I have a long list of projects I would like to work on including giving some of my furniture pieces a facelift.

Last time Country Mouse was here, we tackled my red ikea chair that desperately needed a new cover.

What do you think? Do you have any fun Summer projects you'd like to tackle? Summer is the perfect time to bring jars, frames, and furniture outside and give them a facelift with some pretty colored spray paint.  I'm hoping to do that this weekend if the weather cooperates! Hope your Summer is off to a great start!

  1. this is prettiest slipcover i have ever seen. i used to make slipcovers for my furniture and i KNOW how much WORK that is. if you have any tips, please share in another blog post. gorgeous.

-cynthia (meringue designs) can't seem to sign in!

  2. The chair looks gorgeous! You two are so talented. I hope you have a great summer with your new schedule! I wish I could do something like that, maybe next year I'll have more time.

  3. Thanks Cynthia and Anna! What always works well for us is if we can take the old cover apart and use that as our template, otherwise coming up with that can be tricky ;)

  4. OMG, I LOVE this chair!!!! What a great idea. Too neat!

  5. You are too creative:) Really love how bright your studio is:)

  6. Fabulous chair makeover! And I love/envy your bright (and tidy) sewing space. My summer project will be putting together my new crafty space in a new house, can't wait!

  7. That is so awesome!! Love it. Great blog & Etsy shop!

  8. So happy for you getting your hours reduced over the summer:) Can hardly wait to see what you create with your extra time ~ yay!

Your chair makeover is to DIE! I really smiled when scrolled down and saw the doily! Really a beautiful makeover. BTW, I am totally obsessed with repurposing vintage doilies now; been whipping up lots of new things with my mountain, um I mean stash, of them!

    Happy Sunday,
